The
remote Arctic tundra near Barrow on Alaska's northern slope is a
perfect nesting site for this Snowy Owl.
Working
from a hide positioned about 30 meters from the nest I was able
to make a number of superb images of this spectacular bird with
minimal disturbance.
In
this photograph the brood patch (pink area between the legs) is
clearly visible as the bird lands on the nest.
