Wrynecks
(jynx torquilla) are small woodpeckers that are common breeding
birds through out Europe with exception of the British
Iles. However every autumn we are treated to the arrival of several
of these wonderful birds while on their migration to Africa.
Normally
very secretive and extremely well camouflaged these birds are
difficult to see let alone photograph. I tracked this individual
for several hours while feeding before it rested on a fence allowing
me to take this stunning image.
